Make It Two

So I've tried surfing again for the million time... and guess? I'm still just as bad as the first time. My surf instructer was amazed that I kept on doing the opposite of what he told me to do. After two hours of practising take offs and drinking salt water I was exhausted and happy to crawl back on dry land. Feeling brain washed (by the sea, I swear my brain was bathing in there) and like a big failure. Anyway the surf lesson was held on Costa da Caparica, one of the beaches south of Lisbon which is absolutely wonderful. From the metro stop (blue line) at Praca de Espanha you can take bus 161 (or 153 they say, but I've never tried). It takes about 30 min with the bus and costs 3,50 with return ticket. Other than that I've been on a guided tour in Alfama organised by Erasmus Life Lisboa (guide from the Wild Walkers - good!). To walk through the ruins and old buildings which survived the earthquake and tsunami back in 1755 was quite fascinating. The tour ended up at the São Jorge Castle. I'm glad we didn't pay for the entrance to the castle because I'm pretty sure I would have been dissapointed. There are viewing points all over Lisbon, just as nice as the view from the castle. Oh I had the BEST fried dumplings at a Chinese Restaurant close to Intendente (green line).
