Make It Two

- june 2014
18/6, Day 13 - Rinjani Day 3

Holy, every inch of my legs is screaming, and my poor bum. That was tough, I’m never calling myself fit again, ever. I was struuuuggling the last 200 m, swearing, crawling, hating. But I did it! 3726 m up a volcano, hell yeah. We started walking at 3 am and Ben and I got up there 5.45 am I think (the girls stayed further down), and I was so sweaty, cold and exhausted but so proud and happy. I cuddled up close to Seb, Lucas and Ben around the camp fire, eating cookies and waiting for the sunrise. And boy, it was worth every single step, it was incredible and simply indescribable. And the volcano's shadow on the sky, wow, I was blown away, absolutely speechless. The photos and the videos will probably make the whole thing way better justice than my shitty explanation.

The way back down to the camp was interesting, it was so steep and me and Ben were cracking up while falling over and sliding down like kids. After getting down we had two banana pancakes with honey waiting, and a lovely cup of coffee, well needed. The rest of the way down was tough as hell, we fell a countless amount of times and we all looked like we had been war painted in dust when we finally got back in the afternoon. One with nature.

After a sad goodbye to the boys we left for Senggigi, ended up staying at Hotel Ellen (150 000 a night), and had a well deserved dinner date together at a cosy restaurant called .... just across the street, Indian food and Banana split for dessert. Mmm.
